More people are eating at restaurants than ever before and the trend promises to continue in the future. Increasing traffic not only increases profits, but also the amount of smoke, grease and odors due to the additional cooking production in restaurants and commercial kitchens. As restaurant kitchen cooking production grows, the exhaust will release growing amounts of smoke, grease and odors into the surrounding air. Businesses and nearby residents may complain about the nuisance of smoke and odors and about residual grease build up over time and more municipalities are requiring Pollution Control Units (PCUs) to eliminate the issue. Grease and smoke particulates can also damage roofing and other build materials.
REFS can provide a restaurant exhaust filtration system that is designed for your specific needs, either as a retrofit, or for new construction. Our systems utilize proven, state of the science technology to remove smoke, grease, mist, and odors from the air.
Dual-stage electrostatic precipitators are used in our vented & ventless PCUs and include two parts: the charging and the collecting sections. In the charging section, the incoming smoke, grease, mist, and other particulates pass through ionizer wires which impart a positive electrical charge to these contaminants. The positively charged contaminants are then drawn through the collection section which contains a secondary electrical field with negatively charged aluminum plates. Since opposite charges attract, the positively charged contaminants collect on the negatively charged aluminum plates, removing them from the air-stream.
Odors are then removed using activated carbon filtration for both vented and ventless exhaust filtration.
